Pharmacological properties
Meloxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug of the oxicam class with analgesic and antipyretic properties. The mechanism of action is based on reducing the biosynthesis of prostaglandins, which are mediators of inflammation, by inhibiting the enzymatic activity of COX-2. It partially affects COX-1, reducing the risk of side effects.
