DL-methionine acidifies urine and prevents the reformation of struvite stones. Struvite stones (composed of phosphate, ammonium, and magnesium) are found in alkaline urine and are the most common. The drug is prescribed for therapeutic purposes in diseases of the urinary tract (urolithiasis, cystitis), as a preventive measure to prevent recurrences.
The recommended duration of use is up to 6 months. Tablets should be given with food. Consult a veterinarian before use.
