Amoxicillin is a broad-spectrum bactericidal antibiotic from the group of aminopenicillins. It inhibits the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall, inhibits the enzymes transpeptidase and carboxypeptidase, causing disruption of the osmotic pressure in the bacterial cell, leading to bacterial death during their growth stage. The drug is active against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms (Streptococcus spp., Pasteurella spp., Haemophilus spp., Bacillus anthracis, Actinomyces spp., Clostridium spp.
