Asedan belongs to the group of alpha-2 antagonists, containing atipamezole hydrochloride, which selectively blocks alpha-2 receptors, causing the release of norepinephrine in the central and peripheral nervous systems. This leads to stimulation of the sympathetic nervous system, resulting in the elimination of the sedative effect of medetomidine hydrochloride (Prosedan). Asedan is rapidly absorbed after intramuscular administration and reaches maximum concentration in the blood
