Amoxicillin trihydrate — a semi-synthetic penicillin, belongs to beta-lactam antibiotics, inhibits the synthesis of bacterial cell walls by inhibiting transpeptidase and carboxypeptidase, which causes disruption of osmotic pressure and death of microorganisms at the developmental stage. It is destroyed by beta-lactamases, which are biosynthesized by a number of resistant bacteria, resulting in a significant narrowing of the activity spectrum of preparations based solely on amoxicillin.
